About the Author: Robert W. Rowland

I was born above the butcher’s shop of my parents in Bristol, going on to two schools in that city, one being Colston.

In my youth I enjoyed playing rugby for a local side.

Then came National Service, in Germany (Goslar), then Malta and Cyprus.

On demob, never being cut out to be a butcher, I found myself spending a summer in Weymouth and, whilst there, on the film set of Henry Fielding’s Tom Jones.

A spell in London at Foyle’s book shop followed, where I gained a love of literature and writing, funding that pleasure and my writing, with a carpet business in Devon, where I now live with my wife.
